Partnership Summit: A Great Success

More than 200 Senior Government and Business Leaders attended


In collaboration with the Ontario Government, the Canada-India Business Council successfully hosted the “Partnership Summit” on May 28th, 2015 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto. More than 200 senior government and business leaders participated in this event. 

Keynote Speakers

Hon. Kathleen Wynne, the Premier of Ontario, announced a new trade mission to India during the Summit.

Hon. Michael Chan, the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade of Ontario,H.E Vishnu Prakash, the High Commissioner of India, and Sandra Pupatello, the Director of Business Development and Global Markets of PwC Canada also spoke about the tremendous potential between Canada and India.


Experts from both the public and the private sectors discussed strategies and tools required to significantly increase bilateral trade with India. The panels covered broad topics including Business Opportunities, Strategies for Success and Service Providers.

Panel: Business Opportunities

Panelists in the "Business Opportunities" discussed India's potential markets.With the launch of the "Make in India" program, Prime Minister Modi wants to strengthen India's manufacturing role in global trade.

Ontario, as a global leader in high technology and education, will get access to more opportunities cooperating with India in these fields.


Panel: Looking Forward - Strategies for Success

Due to different cultures and bureaucratic systems, people are facing challenges when doing business in India. Panelists of "Looking Forward – Strategies for Success" gave several recommendations. Establishing local partnership and improving adaptability are important strategies for success.


Panel: Going Global - Service Providers

Are Canadian companies ready for new markets such as India?

Panelists of "Going Global – Service Providers" are experts from organizations where companies can receive support and get ready for market entry. During the discussion, they talked about the importance of entrepreneurship, as well as strong local partnerships.
